Historically, in 1924, E. D. Barnhill built
a hotel for ''snowbirds'' at the present location of DeLand Artisan Inn.
He was assisted by the Howarth family, who owned the hotel soon after
completion of the building.
Through
the years, the clientele and condition of the place deteriorated, until
it finally ended up closing in the 1980's.
In 1996, brothers John and Brett Soety from
Pennsylvania bought the building and completely renovated it to it's present
attractive state, inside and out. The DeLand Artisan Inn is a wonderfully
diversified restaurant, hotel and lounge complete with Banquet Facilities
for small or large groups. Newly redecorated to splendid perfection, the
Spanish architecture is inviting.
